Lisa Ellen Hughes is a multi-disciplined emerging, Newcastle-based artist who graduated in 2020 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from UNSW Art & Design.  Her mediums of specialty are in animation, illustration, drawing, digital/video art, and painting and installation art. Lisa’s research investigates various constraints of nature versus human. These ecological habitats and human existence, mirror social behaviours and the notion of the survival of the fittest within a habitat. Her technique of layering and thin think painting style gives depth to the narrative of material.

She translates urban and natural landscapes to envelope the essence of intermixed textured surfaces, symbolism, and the poetic interpretation of an abstract fluidity. A conversation is created with works embodying marks left by humans on structures, pavements, and nature. Recording the memory and process of destructive intervention and communication left in the environment.
